Joanna emphasized the ongoing success of off-price retailers, noting that Burlington, Ross Dress for Less, and T.J.Maxx have thrived due to their “treasure hunt” model, which keeps customers returning for low-priced, trending inventory. She also pointed to Lululemon and Vuori as athleisure brands that industry professionals should keep on their radar.

 

In discussing the rise of experiential retail, Joanna reflected on its evolution since the Great Recession, explaining that as “the Amazon effect reduced the need for dated brick-and-mortar concepts, it allowed for new and creative uses that matched changing consumer preferences.” She highlighted a shift from the early “Amazon apocalypse” fears to a “new normal for what the consumer demands their retail experience look and feel like.”

 

Ben Snyder added Tractor Supply Co. and Ulta Beauty to the list of must-watch retailers, highlighting their strong brand loyalty and commitment to value. He also pointed to Whole Foods’ new Daily Shop concept, predicting its potential to create a “consistent and repeatable revenue stream.”
